Entertainment and education through literary translation in a diaspora newspaper. Literary translations in Prosveta, a newspaper of Slo­vene-American émigré community

The main argument of the article is that literary translation assumed different roles in émigré periodicals: from serving educational purposes, through amplifying diaspora’s cultural identity, to providing entertainment their readership, and all these con­formed political ideological orientation positioning newspaper its editors. focuses on Prosveta (The Enlightenment), a left-of-centre progressive published by Slovene diaspora U.
